st     = stitch

sc    = single crochet

ch    = chain

sl st = slip stitch

inc   = increase

dec   = decrease

**     = repeat instructions x times – or round out

( )     = the number in parentheses indicates the number of stitches at the end of the round

 

Notes 

Do not join rounds, work in a continuous spiral.

Use a stitch marker or a piece of yarn to mark the end or the beginning of a round. Move the marker up after completing each round.

All stitches are worked into both loops, unless stated otherwise in the pattern

Round 3: *sc 1, inc* (18 sts)

Round 4: sc 1, inc,*sc 2, inc* 5x, sc 1 (24 sts)

Round 5: *sc 3, inc* (30 sts)

Round 6: sc 2, inc, *sc 4, inc* 5x, sc 2 (36 sts)

Round 7: *sc 5, inc* (42 sts)

Round 8: sc 3, inc, *sc 6, inc* 5x, sc 3 (48 sts)

Round 9-14: *sc 1 in each stitch* (48)

Round 15:  sc 3, *dec, sc 6* 5x, dec, sc 3 (42 sts)

Starting with black

Round 1: sc 9 in magic ring (8)

Color change to white

Round 2: *inc* (18 sts)

Make 1 sl st – only in first stitch. Break yarn and leave enough yarn to sew the eyes on the head – you can sew it on before you join the head to the body

 

Legs

Rosa

Front legs – make 2

Round 1: sc 6 in magic ring (6 sts)

Round 2: *inc* (12 sts)

Round 3: *sc 1, inc* (18 sts)

Round 4: sc 1, inc,*sc 2, inc* 5x, sc 1 (24 sts)

Round 5: *sc 3, inc* (30 sts)

Round 6: sc 2, inc, *sc 4, inc* 5x, sc 2 (36 sts)

Round 7: *sc 5, inc* (42 sts)

Round 8: sc 3, inc, *sc 6, inc* 5x, sc 3 (48 sts)

Round 9: *sc 7, inc* (54)

Fold the legs and make a half circle – crochet the two sides together with slip stitches (21 sts)

Break yarn and leave enough yarn to sew the legs in place later

The last 7 stitches is where the head is going to be – so don’t work into those

Break the yarn and weave in ends

 

Stomach

White

In the first round work in all of the 84 stitches from round 18 in the shield. You also need to work into the 7 stitches from round 18 of the shield we left unworked in round 19  !In back loop only!

Go down into the first stitch from round 18 – here you attach your yarn.
